Digital Marketing Skills Lab - Overview
Module 1 - Building a Strategy
Two-hour workshop
Learn the top six components of a strategic marketing plan and put your knowledge to immediate use developing your own digital marketing strategy.
During this module, we’ll analyze and discuss digital marketing examples and case studies. You’ll also be guided through exercises to:
Identify your unique selling points
Create an ideal customer profile or buyer persona
Develop a digital marketing strategy
Module 2 - Digital Marketing Channels and Technology
1.5-hour workshop + 1-hour working session
Learn specific tools and technology available today. We’ll explore this topic at both a high-level and a tactical level. You’ll gain hands-on experience developing a digital marketing asset - for example, a website landing page, marketing email, blog post, social media posts, or advertisements.
During this module, you’ll learn how to decide what digital channels and technologies will be most effective for your strategy and goals. We’ll explore specific, popular technologies and platforms - HubSpot, MailChimp, Google Ads, Social Media management platforms, WordPress, Squarespace, and Canva.
Module 3 - Ethics in Marketing
1.5-hour session
Explore important topics related to ethics in marketing from data privacy to values-driven work and making an impact. As a group, we’ll discuss opportunities for social impact within marketing strategies.
Participants will complete a personal values exercise.

About the Instructor
Laurel Nock is a senior marketing consultant and business owner based in the San Francisco Bay Area. With 20 years of experience in the field, Laurel has led marketing programs in a variety of sectors including tech, non-profit, higher education, and professional services. She partners with clients across the United States and internationally to develop marketing programs that matter. Laurel has received nominations and awards for her work in the areas of design, business partnership, allyship, service to community, and website marketing. Laurel has an M.A. in Global Communications from the American University of Paris and a B.A. in Public Relations from Otterbein University.
